It Ain't Over 'til It's Over
On the day of the 22nd Annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup, a discussion occurred regarding how wonderful it would be to actually be able to remove every piece of trash and debris in the Perdido Bay zone. I define this area as the several miles of shoreline which is between the mouth of Soldiers Creek and a spot north of the Lillian bridge called Grassy Point. It would have taken hundreds of volunteers to accomplish this task in the 4 hour window in which the annual event actually occurs. The amount of debris that has accumulated for many years, including things from Hurricane Ivan, would make most folks think that this would be impossible. I must confess that I had my doubts as well, until a group of volunteers stepped forward. These most excellent people, both young and old, are not far from making this happen. They dare to live the dream of making our world a better place.
